WHAT: About Taste of Lawrence Festival
Since 2004 the Wexford BIA of the Lawrence Avenue East neighbourhood has delivered to
Scarborough and the GTA the Taste of Lawrence International Food + Cultural Festival – a
showcase of delicious cuisine, arts and music. Taste of Lawrence has become possibly the
largest street festival in the GTA, occupying Lawrence Avenue East from Birchmount Avenue to Warden Avenue, and attracting 200,000 visitors annually.
The 30-foot Main Stage features live music from incredible artists, such as the sensational Reggae artist Jay Douglas and the All Star Band and a variety of international dance performances. Visitors can sample cuisine from Asia, South Asia, the Caribbean and more - showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the neighbourhood’s culinary offerings. And families of all walks and ages can enjoy a stunning mix of roaming performers and a roster of great performances and activities for children in The Family Zone. Food enthusiasts will revel in the diverse cuisines of Asian/South Asian such as Tandoori, Caribbean Jerk, Middle Eastern fare, poutine, and culinary delights from around the world. Food demonstrations and oyster shucking will be offered each day of the festival. The Taste of Lawrence is the perfect weekend destination for music, food, dance and cultural enthusiasts of all ages, and a wonderful way for families to enjoy the tastes, sights and sounds of one of the GTA's most richly defined communities.
